EL CORTEZ ANNOUNCES ITS PARTNERSHIP WITH FIRST FRIDAY AT THE AERIAL GALLERY OPENING

Mayor Goodman and El Cortez General Manager Welcome Downtown’s Newest Exhibit

WHAT: El Cortez Hotel & Casino announces its partnership with First Friday at the ceremonial opening of the Aerial Gallery in downtown Las Vegas. El Cortez will officially become a trolley stop for First Friday visitors beginning on Friday, March 7; the trolley will stop at the Cortez Garden Gateway.

To commemorate the opening of the Aerial Gallery, Mayor Oscar B. Goodman, Chair of the Las Vegas Arts Commission, Joshua Abbey and Mike Nolan, representing Fremont East Entertainment District and general manager/co-owner of El Cortez, will speak about the importance of bringing and maintaining art and culture to the downtown area, as well as welcome the Aerial Gallery.

The Aerial Gallery artwork, entitled “Thirst,” is the creation of Ivan Brunetti, who created 50 illustrated panels detailing the water cycle and features Mayor Goodman. The panels will be displayed as banners along Las Vegas Boulevard – from Charleston Boulevard to Stewart Avenue – for one year and an estimated 30,000 cars will pass under them each day.

Aerial Gallery’s artwork by Brunetti depicting the cyclical journey of water and consisting of 50 illustrated panels that are each 3 feet by 8 feet and feature Mayor Goodman in the last five panels.
